Our Mission

The Youth Career Cafe is an innovative approach to getting Peninsula Youth who are currently enrolled in Secondary and Post Secondary education cirricula to seek career opportunities that will both satisfy and challenge.   Career exploration is an essential part of preparing for adulthood, yet many teenagers and young adults have little, if any, exposure to the endless combinations of industries and occupations from which they can choose.

From Health Care to Government Service, industry needs people with a wide variety of skills to provide exceptional service to their customers or constituents. The Career Cafe provides access to a selection of Industry Profiles prepared by local businesses which describe the value they provide to society and the working environment an employee would find.

Interested in a specific occupation? Visitors can also find  Occupational Profiles to explore the skills and knowledge needed to perform a given job.  We encourage our visitors to explore the aspects of a variety of jobs through profiles created by successful professionals.  From Accountant to Zoographer, you can find a compendium of information that allows you to gain insight into the challenges of many occupations.

Finally, we bring employers and students together with our "Guest Host" program.  Each month, we ask a local employer to provide specific information about their industry and occupations that are in demand. The materials provided by our guest sponsor are intended to provide area youth with a "wide-angle" perspective on a specific industry and the myriad of occupations needed to provide goods and services to their customers.
