Summer Youth Employment Program

Program Information

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was signed by President Obama on February 17, 2009. One of the major provisions of this law is the creation of summer employment opportunities for youth between the ages of 14-24 who meet the eligibility requirements of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

The Summer Employment Program is designed to provide eligible youth with paid work experiences in supervised job settings. Most opportunities will offer $7.25 per hour, 32 hours per week, 4 - 8 weeks of work experience, and convenient site placement if possible.
