Peninsula Council for Workforce Development

Entrepreneurs

Innovation and entrepreneurship are becoming critically important as outsourcing and off-shoring of many different jobs becomes increasingly common. The Norfolk/Virginia Beach/Newport News metropolitan area was ranked the 7th best city for entrepreneurs. There are several programs in the area to develop entrepreneurial skills, and the tax environment is attractive to potential entrepreneurs.

The Peninsula Council for Workforce Development works to foster an entrepreneurial agenda within the region that creates multiple support structures to help new businesses get started and new business owners get off the ground. This is ripe territory to foster and promote as a workforce and economic development strategy.

If you are an entrepreneur contemplating a start-up or have recently undertaken a start-up effort and are looking for knowledge and resources, we invite you to contact the Council. Working with our strategic partners, we also encourage young entrepreneurs to utilize the resources of the Youth Career Cafe. Many local business leaders would be willing to assist you in a mentor relationship.

For Entrepreneurs who are ready to take their businesses to the next level, the Peninsula Council for Workforce Development works closely with Thomas Nelson Community College, New Horizons Regional Education Center and the Virginia Employment Commission to design and create workforce training courseware.  We invite you to sit down with our Development Team and take advantage of these tremendous resources to create and maintain competitive advantage.
